Motherhood Shifts in Moments: The Ache and the Awe of Watching Them Grow

Just when I thought I had figured it out—nailed the bedtime routine, cracked the code on their moods, mastered the snack list—they grew.

And everything shifted. Again.
That was the nature of motherhood. A constant dance between holding on and letting go. Between knowing them so deeply… and then watching them become someone new.

It was freedom. It was an ache. It was both.

The Bittersweet Truth of Growth
I remember days when I longed for five minutes alone. And then, in the quiet moments, I found myself missing the sticky hands, the giggles, and the constant “Mama!”

Motherhood never came with a pause button. Each phase passed before I knew it. And if I hadn’t learned to slow down and be there, I would’ve missed it.

The Gift of Presence
What helped me most during those years was choosing to be present.
Not perfect. Not always patient. Just present.

Because presence let me feel the moment for what it was:
💞 The sticky hugs.
💞 The messy rooms.
💞 The stories repeated tirelessly because “again” was their favourite word
💞 The endless questions.
💞 The late-night snuggles.
💞 The quiet pride when they did something all on their own.

Being present (not always though) helped me enjoy those moments for what they were—not always easy, but always fleeting. Because I could manage many such moment’s ; those memories are now etched deep in my heart.

The Ache and the Awe
There was a quiet ache in watching them grow. A kind of grief for what was—softly wrapped inside deep gratitude for what is.

But right next to that ache was awe.
Awe for the people they were becoming.
Awe for the strength and kindness I saw unfold in them.
Awe for the privilege of walking beside them, even if just for a little while.

A Note to Fellow Mothers and a gentle reminder….
If your little ones are still little—take a pause when you can…observe them more …Laugh more….Breathe deeper….Let go of getting it “right” and lean into what’s real.
Because of those ordinary moments?
They turn into memories.. to cherish!!
And one day, those memories will be the most extraordinary thing you carry in your heart!! ❤️ ❤️

Share it with other fellow moms who are on this journey 💖 💖
